Who runs this site

This is a private, non-commercial website run by a German family currently planning a move to Sweden. It exists for one purpose: collecting recommendations for where we should look for a house. Nothing on this site is sold, monetised or shared with advertisers.

What we collect

Only what you type into the recommendation form: the place you recommend, and – all optional – a reason, your name (a nickname is fine), where you live, your family situation, your age bracket and a free-text message. Everything you submit may be displayed publicly on the map and in the list, so please don't include anything you wouldn't want strangers to read. We never ask for your email address.

When you submit the form, your IP address is used briefly to limit the number of submissions per hour (spam protection). It is kept in a server-side cache for at most one hour and is never stored together with your recommendation.

What we don't collect

No cookies, no trackers, no analytics, no accounts, no newsletter. There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is switched on.

Third-party services

To place recommendations on the map, our server (not your browser) sends the submitted place name to the Nominatim geocoding service run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

The map page loads its map tiles directly from OpenStreetMap servers, which means your browser's IP address is visible to the OpenStreetMap Foundation while viewing the map. See the OSMF privacy policy for details. No other third-party resources (fonts, scripts, CDNs) are loaded.

Removing a submission

Want a recommendation you submitted taken down? Email us at hej@varisverige.se with the place name and roughly when you submitted it, and we'll remove it.
